What Is EasyCSIT? (And How to Use It)

EasyCSIT is a free learning platform for BSc CSIT students, built and run by CSIT students. It takes the study material that is already spread across the internet and arranges it in a structured way around the syllabus: semester by semester, subject by subject, chapter by chapter.

The goal is simple. When you sit down to study, you should not first have to figure out where to look. This article explains what EasyCSIT is, why we built it, and how to use it.

What you'll find on EasyCSIT

EasyCSIT follows the structure of the CSIT course, so the material is organised by semester, subject, and chapter.

Start by choosing your semester from the home page or the Semesters menu. Each semester lists its subjects. Opening a subject gives you five tabs:

  • Videos: chapter-wise playlists, so you can go directly to the topic you need.

  • Notes: notes from your seniors, and some from lecturers. These notes help you get through a subject faster before an exam, and they show you what to write, and how, to earn marks.

  • Syllabus: what the subject actually covers.

  • Question Papers: past-year papers, organised by year. You can read them question by question and reveal the answer where one is available.

  • Discussions: ask a doubt, or read what other students have already asked.

Videos open in a small player in the corner of the screen, so the page stays in front of you while you watch. The subject page also shows a short guide, the difficulty of the subject, the total video time (adjusted to your playback speed), and the number of questions and past papers available.

Why we built it

There is no shortage of free CSIT material online. The problem is finding it, and knowing which part of it matters for the exam you have next.

Most CSIT students study in bursts, close to exams. In those weeks, time spent hunting for the right video or note is time not spent studying. We built EasyCSIT to cut that search down to almost nothing: open the subject, and the material is already matched to it.

Two choices keep it that way. We embed videos from YouTube instead of re-uploading them, and the credit stays with the original creators. And we only organise free material, which is what lets the platform stay free.

How EasyCSIT started

EasyCSIT did not start as EasyCSIT.

The first version was a project I called CSIT Portal, built in March 2024 while I was just starting to learn web development. I wanted to build something genuinely helpful to others. But I overbuilt it into a full CMS, and the part that actually mattered, the content, turned into the bottleneck. It never really saw the light, and I shut it down in June 2024. It failed, but it inspired something better.

The second attempt came after a break, with one lesson from the first: put the idea in front of people first, and build from their response.

So instead of planning everything at once, I shipped a small working version quickly. It went live as easecsit (the name later settled as easycsit), on a domain bought on a birthday, and I shared it on r/technepal and r/csitnepal.

That first version was small. Each subject had one section listing videos, and clicking a video opened it in an embedded YouTube player. Subjects and chapters had short guides, an idea borrowed from bctengineeringnotes. It was enough. People tried it, left feedback, and told their friends, and slowly a team formed around it.

Frontend was never my strong point, so when Amezan and Mukesh joined, the platform got a proper visual rework. It grew well past videos into notes, question papers, discussions, notices, the interactive player, and the syllabus. The original feel stayed, but the execution got much more polished. Some students preferred the older, simpler version, and that feedback was noted while the platform kept moving.

Later we added the feedback page and the Discord server, and since then we have grown into a much larger team (see the team page). Much of the work has been fixing bugs, reworking rough parts, and improving whatever students asked for. Because the platform has been reworked so many times, keeping it running now costs almost nothing.

There is still a lot left to do. Our goal is to become the one platform a CSIT student needs from the first semester to the last.

Preparing for the entrance exam

The entrance exam is a different job, so it gets its own site: entrance.easycsit.com.

It follows the exam's five sections: Physics (25 marks), Chemistry (25), Mathematics (25), English (15), and Computer GK (10). Each subject has chapters, video lectures, and practice MCQs. There are timed mock papers that run like the real exam and show you a result with a review of your answers. There are also past-year papers, and a daily MCQ to keep a little practice going every day. A countdown shows how much time is left before the exam.

Treat the marks split as a guide rather than a fixed rule. The section marks and syllabus come from the official entrance notice, so confirm them there for your year before you plan around them.

Notices and the community

Notices and the community are how you stay current between exams.

Notices. TU and IOST publish notices often, and they are easy to miss. We collect them, tag them (exam, result, admission, entrance), and list them under Notices. New notices can also reach you through Discord, so you do not have to keep checking the site.

Discord. There is a student Discord for doubts, notes, and general advice. If a subject guide on the site is thin, that is where you ask. You will find the invite in the site header.

Free to use, and how it stays that way

EasyCSIT is free, and we intend to keep it that way. There is no paid tier and no locked content.

Running the platform still costs money, and support so far has been limited. Right now we are working on the biggest gap we have: complete question-and-answer coverage for every subject, so you can not only practice questions but also read and learn the answers. That needs a lot of hands, which is where we need your help.

If you can support, there is a Support Us page where you can donate through eSewa. If you would rather contribute in another way, you can send notes, corrections, or suggestions through the feedback page.

Where to start

If you are a CSIT student, pick your semester and open the subject you have next. Bookmark the Notices page while you are there.

If you are preparing for the entrance exam, start at entrance.easycsit.com and try a mock paper first. That shows you where you stand faster than reading through a syllabus.

Either way, if something is missing, wrong, or broken, tell us on the feedback page. EasyCSIT has improved mostly because students said what was not working.
