The EasyCSIT Exam Timer and Pomodoro: Two Small Tools, One Job Each

EasyCSIT grows by adding small things that solve real, everyday problems for students. The exam timer and the Pomodoro timer are two examples of that approach: each does one job, and together they remove common timing friction while studying : not knowing how much time is left before an exam, and not being able to focus for a stretch without getting pulled away.

Both live on subject pages, so if you study through EasyCSIT you will meet them without going looking for them. Here is what each one does and how to use it.

The exam timer: know exactly how much time is left

The exam timer is a quiet countdown pinned to the bottom-right of a subject page. When a subject's exam date is published on EasyCSIT, the pill tells you how much time is left in plain terms: "Exam in 2 months" first, then "Exam in 3 days", then "Exam in 4 hours". The date also appears in the subject header in both the Nepali and English calendars.

The color reflects how close it is: neutral when the exam is still far off, orange about a month out, and red in the last week.

How to use it:

  1. From your semester, open the subject you are studying.
  2. Check the bottom-right corner. If the exam date for that subject is on EasyCSIT, the countdown is there.
  3. Cross-check the date in the subject header, which shows the exam day in the Nepali and English calendars side by side.
  4. When the exam time passes, the countdown disappears on its own. Nothing to clean up.
  5. If the pill distracts you, click the x on it to hide it. Bring it back any time from Preferences (the button at the top of the subject page) by turning Show Exam Timer back on.

The exam date also shows on each subject card on the semester page, so you can compare your subjects at a glance.

The Pomodoro timer: focus for 25 minutes, rest for five

The Pomodoro technique is simple: work in a short block, take a short break, repeat. EasyCSIT puts the timer right on the subject page, so you can run a session while watching videos or going through notes without switching apps.

How to use it:

  1. Open any subject page. The timer is the small round button at the bottom-right.
  2. Click it to expand. You get three modes (Focus, Short, Long), a big timer, and Start and Reset buttons.
  3. Press Start. The defaults are the classic 25 minutes of focus, 5-minute short breaks, and a 15-minute long break every fourth session. The dots under the progress bar show how far you are into that cycle.
  4. When a focus session ends, a chime plays and the widget reads "Time for a break!". The button collapses back into a circle that keeps showing the remaining time (in the last 10 seconds it counts them down).
  5. Pause and Start share one button. Reset restarts the current phase. While a phase is running, a skip button jumps you to the next one.

Changing the settings: the gear icon opens the settings panel, where you can set each duration (1 to 240 minutes), decide whether breaks and the next focus session start automatically, choose how often the long break comes (every 2 to 10 sessions), and turn the completion sounds on or off.

Hiding it: the x collapses the timer to the small circle (it keeps running). To remove it from the page entirely, turn Pomodoro off in Preferences. Your session is saved in the browser, so closing the page does not reset the timer.

Why small features

Neither of these is a headline feature. That is the point. Each one removes a small friction that shows up in the middle of a real study session : the panic of not knowing how many days are left, and the drift of an open-ended "I'll study for a while".

EasyCSIT usually grows like this: not one giant release, but a stream of small things built with the goal of adding value for students. If something small would make your own study session better, tell us on the feedback page. It might be the next small thing we build.
